Red Robot Media relocates to Wharfebank Mills

A Big Hello From Our New Tenants!

The latest addition to the Wharfebank Mills family has arrived – digital content agency Red Robot Media.

Red Robot has signed a lease to take the ground floor premises in Wharfebank House South.

The company specialises in mainly written online content, including business blogging, SEO copywriting and technical authoring.

Co-founder and director Mathew Dixon said: “We’re delighted to be here. Wharfebank Mills strikes us as an up-and-coming business community, the buildings are beautiful and the location is fantastic.

“This is step up for us in terms of office size and that is a result of how the business has grown over the past few years. We have a really strong client list which is bigger than it has ever been, and we are providing a wider and wider range of professional writing and content creation services.

“With the extra space we have, we now have the option to grow the team further and keep developing our offer.”

Technical authoring and content marketing

Launched in 2010 by Mathew and co-founder Claire Broadley, Red Robot offers a unique blend of services and expertise. “There aren’t too many companies out there which cover the technical authoring and the content marketing side,” explained Mathew.

“We started out as a home business with Claire writing web copy and blogs just as demand for SEO content and business blogging was really taking off. Claire was already a qualified technical writer developing user guides and manuals, and I was on a service desk, so it made sense to take the same step.

“Our first office was a portacabin – so you can say we have come quite a way to be here today! But we still have clients that we started working within the very early days, which we like to think shows we are doing something right.”

Nowadays the Red Robot team also includes Paul Newham, a former journalist and PR consultant who works as an associate on a freelance basis. “The business has two sides now really, I take care of the technical writing side, producing documentation in Madcap Flare and also increasingly producing instructional videos and guides.

“Claire and Paul do the business and marketing content side, the blogs, static web page copy, SEO and that sort of thing. We have a really strong mix of skills, and there is crossover. Claire, for example, helps me with a lot of editing work, and we white label market reports and technical blogs too. I suppose our niche is tech companies, but we also work with law firms, marketing agencies, chartered surveyors, insurance firms and financial services providers.”

High profile

Amongst its clients, Red Robot maintains online support guides for Abacus e-Media, a Top 100 digital agency which provides a multi-channel digital publishing platform used by a number of major publishing houses and professional member bodies.

Claire has had articles published on a number of high profile websites, including Huffington Post, where she had the distinction of having one of her articles shared and re-posted 100,000 times.

Recently, one of Red Robot’s clients, London-based medtech firm Proximie, had a huge hit when the video of a TEDTalk given by the company’s co-founder went viral, attracting over 1 million views online. Amongst its services, Red Robot offers consultancy on speech writing.
